The Trick Of Shaytaan

Updated: Mar 23, 2022

Assalamualaikum!!! So I thought that this would be the perfect first Islamic post. My dad and I, sometimes late at night, we have these talks where we talk about stuff like movies, shows, books, and mostly Islam. I love these talks cuz to me, my dad is like hella smart and intelligent (and also I no one else wants to talk about those things with me) and I always leave the conversation with knowing more and feeling smarter.

So, tonight's topic was about psychology, the trickery of Shaytaan (Satan), and the use of Qur'an in one's life. Let me just start by saying Bismillah cuz I really don't want to mess anything up and say the wrong thing. So, let's dive in.

  • The Chemical Mind

So I just watched episode 3 of Crash Course Psychology (which is amazing as always) and since I don't have anyone to talk about it with, I told my dad about how amazing it was that your brain can do so many functions in literal microseconds. For example, when you get a jump scare, your eyes and ears and other senses interpret the information, send it to your brain, which go through the hippocampus of your brain, which goes through the pituitary gland, which signals the adrenal glands, which surges around your body all the way to your brain again. And in the process this has happened, your brain has figured out that nothing's gonna harm you and it was just a joke.

But, when you experience the jump scare, you can literally feel your muscles momentarily tensing around your body, then as quickly as they start, they calm back down again. I mean... how amazingly cool is that?!

And then my dad told me that I'm a nerd cuz only nerds talk about stuff like this passionately and then I replied back saying that other people are below me and weird cuz this is wayyyy cooler than talking about s3x or making dirty jokes and politics, but that's a conversation for another time. No disrespect or offence meant to anyone who does talk about that stuff❤️.

  • Allah (SWT) is the All-Hearer and Most Forgiving. (Like literally, guys)

Okay, have any of you had that feeling or thought or the voice in your head telling you that Allah (SWT) won't listen to you cuz you did a really bad thing and He probably won't forgive you cuz you lied to everyone about it or some variation of that?

Well, have I got news for you baby.

You all do know some of the names of Allah, right? (I hope you do). And a couple of those names are: "All-Hearer" and "The Most Forgiving".

Guys, guys, guys. The names literally describe him. He literally hears everything and is ready forgive anyone. I just let that sink in. I hadn't really thought about it. But now...

You could have missed your prayer on purpose, or lied to your parent, or like hit your sibling (I know that one's hard to resist), and you must be feeling horribly guilty and thinking "Oh, I did such a bad thing. I don't think Allah (SWT) will hear me out or forgive me for it---"

Bestie, stop. Listen to me. Allah (SWT) is literally called the All-Hearer and The Most Forgiving. He will hear you out and He will forgive you if you truly do feel sorry and you truly do want forgiveness. Also, just go and apologize to your sibling or parent, it'll show that you really are sorry.

These thoughts, voices, feelings etc. you get? They're from Shaytaan (Satan). Which leads us to the third point...

  • The Trickery Of Shaytaan (Satan)

Anything negative thoughts, any negative voices which limit you, tell them to pause for a minute and think about it. Are these thoughts interfering with your daily deen? Are these voices telling you to do something haram or doubtful? Are these feelings/ideas causing you to have disadvantages (as in telling you that you can't do something)? My friend, that is from Shaytaan. He is causing doubt and confusion in your mind.

Needless to say I was pretty surprised. I kept telling my dad like, "But what if I'm about to pray and my sister comes asking an Islamic question? What do I do?" That. That is from Shaytaan as well. Priorities people! If you're talking to a friend or your boss or someone important on your phone, and your sibling comes upto you in all their idiotic glory and annoying aura, what would you do? Would you say "HOL UP! MY SUPER ANNOYING BRATTY SIBLING IS HERE AND NEEDS A QUESTION ANSWERED. I'll get back to you in a mo" or would you be like "Get TF away from here you little piece of---- can't you see that I'm talking to someone?"

Obviously, answering and educating someone on Islam is important. But when it comes to taking care of your deen, you always come first. You can't just tell others to pray, fast, do good deeds without doing it yourself. That's just being two-faced.

Besides, you can always answer the question later, but you can't always pray later. It is now or never, darling.

Just keep training yourself to recognize the voice of Shaytaan limiting you, or telling you the wrong thing as appearing to you as your own thought or voice.

  • Allah (SWT) only gives you things which you can handle. (Which means anything IS possible)

Even childbirth. For some people, giving birth is almost like tryna get a stuck poo (💩) out. Not every person is the same. Allah (SWT) does not send you things which you can't handle.

Also, He sends you the most difficult thing, which you can handle but with a lot of pain, difficulty, and grief. Remember, bros and sisters (idk the plural of sis), this life is a test. And the reason why Allah sends you so many and so painful hardships, is because He is testing your Imaan, your faith, your deen, your loyalty and love for Him. So activate that stubborn little mode of yours and be the stubborn queen you are and just push through the test.

Also, remember, Allah (SWT) will NEVER send you things which you cannot handle. Which means that whatever you're going through, you can get through it, my loves. You can get through it. The only reason you're getting the hardest tests is because you have the most intelligence. The more intelligent you are, the harder things you will get, the prouder you should be because just imagine habibti! Imagine you getting through one of your hardest times and being so proud of yourself! But most importantly, imagine just how proud Allah (SWT) must be. Imagine Him being SO proud because you stayed true to Him! You passed his test!

He does love you. Even if no one in the world loves you. Even if you're friends don't love you, even if you're family don't love you, even if you're own parents don't love you, Allah will. Why? Because He created you. He created you! He's already proud of you! You cannot, just cannot, imagine how much He loves you. You can't comprehend the love Allah has for you. The love Allah has for you is so much more than the love of a mother.

So keep striving, you can, and will, get through the hard tests you're going through. And unlike the tests and exams you have at school where the teacher doesn't--- or can't---- help you, Allah (SWT) can. Just ask, make dua, pray, He will help you. Whether it's a biology test, a Math test, and English test, or a life test from Allah. He will help you if you ask for it with your whole heart. Because He is the All-Hearer, All-Seer, and The Most Forgiving.

Plus, whenever you feel doubt, you can always refer back to the Qur'an. You can look at the hadith and Sunnah as well, from a Sahih book. Whenever you're in an argument, you google it up to see who's right, right? Well, you can do the same for a doubt or question about Islam too.

Whenever you get a doubt, over whether Islam is the real and true religion or not, don't hesitate to go to a trusting website, or ask someone knowledgeable, or search on YouTube and listen to trusted scholars and Sheikhs. Don't give up!
